I used to make this for my son when he was really little for many occasions. Today ( Call me weird and sentimental) I am making it for his 29th birthday. Wish me luck. I hope he notices the symbolism!! <3

My mom has been making this cake for at least 30 years. She usually does yellow cake with a vanilla iced face and chocolate iced ears. We just use jelly beans to decorate.
We usually outline a circle for the center of the bowtie, but this year my 5 year old decorated it all by herself and opted for a polka dot bowtie. Everyone got a jelly bean that way.
